Prestbury Village Christmas Tree
Prestbury Village Christmas Tree

On Saturday 10th December local residents and children met at the Prestbury Library for the Switch On of the Christmas tree lights. This is the second year that a Christmas tree has been erected in the grounds of the Library, and the Parish Council is grateful to the Boddington Estate for once again providing such a magnificent tree.
The Prestbury Women’s Institute were on hand to provide refreshments, and to lead the carol singing. At 4.00 o’clock the lights were switched on by Evan and Ned Thomas, pupils at St.Mary’s school.
The Christmas tree was erected to engender the spirit of Christmas, and from the many comments that have been received, it is a welcome addition to the village. It is therefore particularly annoying that some individual(s) look a contrary view and vandalised the lights by cutting sections out. Fortunately the ever resourceful Cllr.Peter Wear was able to effect a temporary repair.
Un deterred there will be a tree next year, and it is hoped that residents will have the opportunity to put stars on the tree in remembrance of a loved one.
